Dumpty Drop icon Dumpty Drop: Quick Intro

You create words by anagramming the seven letters in the bottom row of the board; the empty squares are then filled by letters which drop down in the columns from rows above.

Click your mouse's left button when positioned over a tile to pick it up; the cursor will change to the letter on the tile. Click your mouse's left button when positioned over a blank square to drop a tile; the cursor will change to the default arrow cursor.

You do NOT have to hold the left mouse button down to drag a tile: just click to pick a tile up and click to put a tile down.

Depending upon the pool size you have chosen, the letter pool is composed of 98 or 196 tiles with letters. There are no blanks in this game.

At the start of the game 98 tiles (no blanks) are placed on a 15 x 15 board in 14 rows of 7 columns. The tiles in the bottom row are displayed using the current player's color.

You take tiles from the bottom row and place them in your tray to form words.

The score for a valid word is the sum of (1) the letter-points and (2) length-points of the word and (2) any bonus points.

A word earns additional points based upon its length -- 1 point for each letter of the word. The longer the word the more points.

If you use all seven tiles from the bottom row of the board to form a word (sometimes called a bingo), the total points for the play are doubled

After a valid word is checked, the empty squares in the bottom row are filled by letters dropping down in the columns above.

If you place a word in you tray and choose the menu item "Help | Calculate Word's Points" the points for the play will be calculated for you.

The player with the highest score at the end of a game is the winner.
